One AI DJ Tool I Found This Week: VirtualDJ 2026 ShoutOut
I'm always looking for AI tools that might actually help working DJs. Here's one I came across this week: VirtualDJ 2026 AI ShoutOut. I haven't used it myself yet, so this isn't a hands-on review. But after researching what it does, I think DJs—especially mobile, wedding and corporate DJs—should know about it.
What is AI ShoutOut?
Instead of recording a DJ drop with a microphone, you type the words you want into VirtualDJ. ShoutOut generates a voice announcement that you can preview in your headphones before playing for the audience.
You can select a male or female voice and choose Shout, Talk, or Sing style. That could mean a hype drop with your DJ name, a calm venue announcement, or a more expressive vocal effect. Don't assume the Sing setting creates a polished sung melody; results may vary.
The interesting part: Stem Swap
VirtualDJ's Stem Swap mode temporarily mutes the vocal stem of the song playing and places your AI-generated words in that space. After the announcement, the original vocal returns. That can keep your announcement from fighting with the singer. Other modes can simply lower the music or play the drop without reducing it.
Save drops and automate announcements
VirtualDJ lets you save ShoutOut audio into its sampler. Its scheduling tools can also trigger prepared audio automatically. Imagine a wedding reminder, a sponsor thank-you, or a last-call announcement at the right time without grabbing a mic. For anything important—like an evacuation or safety message—don't depend on automation alone.
How a DJ would try it
- Install or update to VirtualDJ 2026 Part 3.
- Make sure you have the required VirtualDJ Pro license.
- Open ShoutOut from the top of the software.
- Type a short announcement, choose voice and style, and click Generate.
- Preview it in headphones; check pronunciation, timing and volume.
- Choose Stem Swap or another talk-over mode, then play it or save it to the sampler.
Does it work in Serato?
No—not as a built-in Serato feature. ShoutOut runs inside VirtualDJ 2026. If you're a Serato DJ like me, think of this as another tool to research, not a replacement for the setup you already know. Don't assume a VirtualDJ-generated drop or scheduler will run inside Serato. Any workflow between the two would need separate preparation and testing.
What does it cost?
VirtualDJ's official ShoutOut manual explicitly says the feature requires a Pro license. There isn't a separate ShoutOut price stated in the manual. Check VirtualDJ's current licensing page for the cost of Pro before buying anything.
My take
I haven't tested ShoutOut yet, and I won't pretend I have. But I can see the potential: custom DJ drops, wedding introductions, sponsor mentions, and timed announcements without needing to record every line yourself. The big question for me is how natural it sounds in a real gig and how well it fits the music.
AI should help us handle the repetitive work while we stay focused on the crowd. I'd still keep a microphone nearby and test everything before trusting it at a paid event.
